- A cursive or aesthetic blog title signals personality immediately, before anyone reads your first post: it is the most visible styled element and worth spending time on.
- Small caps works well for a blog tagline or sidebar text because it reads cleanly at small text size and has an editorial, magazine feel that suits Tumblr long-form content.
- Use styled text sparingly inside posts: one styled heading or an accent phrase at the start of a post draws attention; a fully styled post body reads slowly and feels harder to reblog.
Common mistakes
- Putting a styled font in your Tumblr URL: the URL only accepts plain characters, and changing the blog URL itself requires creating a new blog or using a custom domain.
- Using a combining-mark style (glitch, zalgo) in your blog title: the marks overflow the title bounding box in some Tumblr themes and look like a rendering error rather than an intentional style.
- Styling the tag names you use for posts: Tumblr tags accept Unicode but styled tag characters do not match plain-text searches or the main tag directory, so styled tags reach no one searching that keyword.

Yes. The blog title is the header shown at the top of your blog, and it accepts styled Unicode, so a cursive or aesthetic title works. What you cannot style is the blog URL (the name.tumblr.com part), which is a plain web address limited to letters, numbers and hyphens.
Do styled fonts work inside Tumblr posts?
Yes. Post text is Unicode, so you can drop a styled word or heading into a post and it displays the same for everyone reblogging it. As always, keep anything a screen reader needs to read, or anything you want found in search, in plain text, since decorative Unicode is read oddly and indexed poorly.
